MATHCOUNTS

MATHCOUNTS is a national math enrichment, coaching & competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievements in every U.S. state and territory.

TEF and member societies support the Oklahoma Engineering Foundation and OSPE  in offering MATHCONTS in northeast Oklahoma.

MATHCOUNTS 2009 Summary Report :  The East Central Region (Tulsa) MATHCOUNTS competition was held February 7, 2009 at Univ. of Tulsa’s Allen Chapman Center.  Participating were 110 students from 19 schools.  Four schools and one all-star team advance from Tulsa to compete at the State MATHCOUNTS competition on March 7, 2009 in Norman.  The top four schools, the students and the all-star team advancing to the state competition are:

Jenks Middle School: Cheeho Kim, Callie Carpenter, Jonathan Chou, and Mitchell Donley.  Head Coach: Dan Beaty

University School:  Jack Schaefer, Philip Gamble, Kelsey Ritchie, and Autumn McBride.  Head Coach: Marilyn Howard.

Regent Preparatory School of Oklahoma: Connor Sell, Josh Randall, Zane Dennis, and Jordan Reutter.  Head Coach: Jim O’Dea

Metro Christian Academy: Ryan Shoemaker, Link Strickland, Mitch Carson, and Benton Tenorio.  Head Coach: Cheri Sieck.

The All Star Team and Coach advancing to State are:  Jordan Miller, Union 8th Grade Center; Jessica Nichols, St. Catherines School; Eric Cho, Jenks Middle School; Richard Hwang, Holland Hall; Shaun Kim, Jenks Middle School (alternate); CiCi Zhou, Holland Hall (alternate).  The Coach for the All Star Team is Bob Lafortune of St. Catherine School.
